Junior High Course Selection Documents, 2017-2018
Current JA 6th Graders: February 2 (6:30pm to 8:00pm) - JA Student Transition Night. This night is only for our 6th grade families who re-signed to attend JA Secondary for 7th grade. We will review the enrollment paperwork as well as the course selection process. You will leave with an enrollment packet to be completed and returned within one week of the meeting (required paperwork will include a copy of 1st semester report card & testing results). Additionally, you will receive course selection paperwork and an overview of the Junior High Honors program and its requirements.
Current JA 7th Graders: ALL 2017- 2018 paperwork should be brought in on Wednesday, February 1st so we can select courses online together. A parent signature is REQUIRED to do anything online.

Important Dates for Current JA 6th Graders
November 2nd – 6:00pm to 8:00pm – Information Night. Please join us to learn more about the student and family experience at Jefferson Academy. The evening will begin with a welcome and orientation from the Principal, followed by a self-guided tour of the building, and an opportunity to meet the faculty and learn about our curriculum. The night will end with an Athletics and Activities Fair where you can meet our students, sponsors, and coaches as well as learn about the many extracurricular opportunities that enhance student life at JA.
January 18th or 19th – 11:30am to 3:25pm – JA Student Shadow Days. We have two dates dedicated to our JA sixth grade students to spend the afternoon at JA Secondary. We will match each group of students up with a current 7th grader and they will be able to observe what we do in our classes. Choose one of the dates and complete the form that is available on our website at the bottom of our ‘About JA’ page.
January 9th to January 31st – School Hours – Re-sign Window. If you would like to continue enrollment at Jefferson Academy, please stop by the Secondary campus Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm to re-sign your student. This letter serves as your reminder to re-sign.

Before or no later than February 16th – All Paperwork is Due. Once the paperwork is complete, please return it to the Secondary office on or before Friday, February 12. This is the final step in ensuring your student’s continued enrollment at JA.
May 4th or May 11th – Honors Language Arts/Social Studies Writing Assessment @ JA Secondary. Students interested in being considered for Honors courses must complete the placement process. More information will be sent out as the date approaches.
May 11th – Math Placement Testing @ JA Elementary. To determine the appropriate placement in their math course, all students are required to complete a one-time math assessment. Based upon their results and all available data, students will be placed in Math 7 or Math 7/8.
July 31st to August 7th – Online School Registration. Each year, students are required to register with their school and complete all paperwork to update contact information, acknowledge parent/student handbook compliance, etc. At the secondary, we complete the entire process online so that you can do so from the comfort of your own home. You may submit immunization records, pay school fees, update contact information, purchase parking permits through our registration website. You will receive more information about the process as the new school year approaches.
